Online Poker Hold’em
When it comes to casino card games, poker is considered to be one of the most popular of them all. In recent years, Texas Hold’em poker has become particularly popular with tournaments popping up in land based casinos all over the world. The good news for online casino enthusiasts is that this classic game can be played online for free or for real money at all leading online casinos. Online Poker Hold’em or casino Hold’em is the fully electronic version of the classic game that anyone can play on an individual basis. In the notes below we are going to look at how the game works and how you can get started playing.
The Game Setup
If you have played Texas Hold’em poker before, you will know that there are a few difference to the classic game of 5 card stud. With Online Poker Hold’em the game consists of a standard poker table with a section for the posting of the ante bet and the call bet. At the bottom of the screen, players will find their chips as well as the various buttons for betting and raising. At the top of the screen, a paytable displays the various payouts for each poker hand combination. Unlike regular Texas Hold’em, in the online version, players face off against the computer. This means that winning is entirely dependent creating a winning hand.
Posting the Ante Bet
A game of Online Poker Hold’em begins with the player placing his or her ante bet on the table. This can be done by clicking on the chips and placing them in the ante betting area. Once the bet has been placed, the player can then click on the deal button. The dealer will then deal the player two cards face down and himself two cards face down. These are called hole cards. Once the hole cards have been dealt, the dealer will deal three cards face up in the middle of the table. This is called the flop and these community cards can be used by the dealer and the player to complete a winning hand.
To Call or to Fold
Once the flop has been dealt, players can choose to call or fold. The aim of online Poker Hold’em is to create the highest poker hand possible using the two cards you have been dealt in conjunction with the community cards. If a player feels they have a good hand, they can click on the call button. This will double the ante bet and move to the next phase. If a player feels they have a bad hand, they can click on the fold button and end the round forfeiting their ante bet.
The Payout Structure
After a player has chosen to call, the dealer will deal an additional community card on the table. This is called the turn. At this point in a game of online Poker Hold’em, players get the choice of calling again or to fold. After the second call bet, the dealer will deal the one last community card making a total of 5. This is called the river and is the final phase of the game. After the river has been dealt, the computer will automatically determine if the player has a winning hand and will pay out accordingly.
